MEET THE TEAM: Melissa Lawrenz

In our "Meet the Team" series we've asked each of our advisory board and founding team members a series of questions so you can get to know them.

Today we'd like to introduce advisory board member, Melissa Lawrenz.

Here's what she had to say:

Hi, I'm Melissa. I’m a Chicago based film/video editor. I’ve worked on TV shows, independent features, commercials, and digital content. Currently I'm an editor for The Onion which includes all of the G/O websites but I edit primarily for The Onion, The A.V. Club, The Takeout, and Deadspin.

What's something you've been reading/watching/listening to lately that you're loving?

I finally started watching Star Trek Discovery and I love it!

What is something you're working on right now (or recently) that you're really pumped about?

A short film I finished editing last year is currently making the festival rounds and doing really well. The film Jesse James just won best LGBTQ+ short at The Sante Fe Film Festival and is playing in Berlin and London soon. I’m quite proud of this film that was written and directed by Josef Steiff.

Any new pandemmy hobbies?

Trying to learn the piano…slowly.

What made you want to get involved with Trident?

Anything that opens up avenues for people to connect and create is what I want to be a

part of.

What are you most excited about when it comes to Trident?

I'm excited about what The Trident Network can do for those who feel like they

don’t know where to go to get their stories out there.

What is something you wish more people knew about you? A fun fact or secret talent?

I’m a Green Bay Packer fan! I actually worked with the team a lot in the 90s when I

worked at the CBS station in Green Bay.
