The Tourney Pod Bracket Reveal: Best Summer Olympic Event
Well, despite a 365-day delay, it’s that time of the decade again. The Summer Olympics are upon us, and we at The Tournament Podcast are feeling the excitement. Any A-Tourney at Pod will tell you that when we get excited about something, we throw it into a bracket to find out which part of that something is the best part of that something. So naturally, on this week’s Tournament Podcast, we’re covering the world’s favorite sporting event and asking the question: Which Summer Olympic event is the best Summer Olympic event?
Since it’s been five years since the last Summer Olympics, I’ll refresh your memory on what usually happens at what we affectionately refer to as “The Games.” For just a little over two weeks, the world’s best athletes will compete in over 300 sporting events, from the mainstream to the obscure. This year, the opening ceremonies will take place in Tokyo’s Olympic Stadium on Friday, July 23rd. Athletes from 206 countries will walk and wave to an empty stadium after whatever stellar performances Tokyo’s locals have in store for us to see. Personally, I’ll be watching from the comfort of my couch, ready to judge every single team outfit (America’s Ralph Lauren uniform included).
Now, because there are so many events, we’re breaking this bracket down into sport categories. This is a 32-seeder, folks, Monday through Friday. Will a mainstream sport like Baseball or Basketball take the cake? Or will the top prize go to an Olympic darling like Swimming or Gymnastics? Or will the votes shock us with an out-of-left-field Shooting or Fencing win? The only way to find out is to listen, vote, and listen again!
